Description

Reliable Flow Control. Durable & Economical.

The PVC Threaded Ball Valve provides a simple, robust solution for isolating sections of your irrigation system. Whether you are building a custom manifold or need a main shut-off for a raised bed, this valve features Female Pipe Threads (FPT) on both ends, allowing for easy connection to standard male-threaded PVC nipples or adapters. As a critical component in any irrigation valve assembly, it gives you the ability to turn water on or off to specific zones for maintenance or seasonal management.

Constructed from high-impact Schedule 40 PVC, this valve is designed to withstand the elements while providing a leak-free seal. The large, ergonomic quarter-turn handle ensures smooth operation, making it easy to identify open or closed positions at a glance. It is an excellent, cost-effective choice for residential and light commercial water lines where flow restriction needs to be minimized.

Why Choose a Threaded PVC Ball Valve?
  • Easy Maintenance: Threaded connections allow you to unscrew and replace the valve or adjacent components without cutting pipe, unlike solvent-weld (glue) valves.
  • Quarter-Turn Operation: Go from full flow to fully closed with a simple 90-degree turn of the handle.
  • Corrosion Resistant: The all-plastic PVC body and EPDM O-rings are immune to rust and corrosion, ensuring a long lifespan even in damp soil environments.
  • High Visibility: The distinct handle color serves as a quick visual indicator of the valve's status (parallel to pipe is open, perpendicular is closed).
  • Versatile Application: Suitable for cold water pressure distribution systems in gardens, greenhouses, and landscape irrigation.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Proper installation ensures a leak-proof threaded seal.

Step 1: Prepare the Threads
Clean the male threads of the nipple or pipe you are connecting to. Apply 3-4 wraps of thread seal tape in a clockwise direction. Do NOT use pipe dope or solvent glue on the threads.

Step 2: Connect the Valve
Screw the ball valve onto the male threads by hand. Ensure you are not cross-threading the connection.

Step 3: Tighten
Hand-tighten the valve firmly. Use a strap wrench or large pliers to give it an additional 1/4 to 1/2 turn if necessary. Caution: Do not overtighten, as this can crack the PVC body.

Step 4: Test
Pressurize the system and check for leaks. If a leak occurs, depressurize, tighten slightly more, or re-apply thread tape.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure this valve fits your system:

  • Thread Type: Female Pipe Thread (FPT). It requires a Male Pipe Thread (MPT) connection (e.g., a nipple or male adapter).
  • Not for Glue: Do not use PVC glue/cement on these threads.
  • Not for Hoses: Incompatible with standard Garden Hose Threads (GHT) unless an adapter is used.
  • Pressure: Rated for up to 150 PSI (Cold Water).
