Description

Maximum Splitting Power for Medium to Extra-Large Logs

The Fiskars X27 Super Splitting Axe (36") is engineered for taller users and anyone who needs to split medium-sized to extra-large logs with maximum efficiency. At 36 inches long and 6.3 lbs total weight, this axe combines a hardened forged steel blade with Fiskars' virtually unbreakable FiberComp® handle — lighter than traditional wood, yet stronger than steel. The result is more one-strike splits, less fatigue, and faster work through even the toughest log piles.

The blade features advanced bevel convex geometry that disperses wood away from the blade on impact, and a low-friction coating that prevents the head from getting stuck mid-split. The PermaHead® insert-molded design keeps the head permanently secured — it will never loosen or fly off. Includes a protective blade sheath. Designed in Billnäs, Finland, and backed by a lifetime warranty.

Key Features
  • Advanced Bevel Convex Blade Geometry: Disperses wood from the blade for cleaner splits and easier blade removal.
  • Hardened Forged Steel Blade: Proprietary blade-grinding technique keeps the edge sharper longer than traditional axes.
  • Low-Friction Blade Coating: Powers through wood and prevents the head from sticking in the cut.
  • FiberComp® Handle: Shock-absorbing, lightweight composite that is stronger than steel and resists overstrike breakage.
  • PermaHead® Design: Insert-molded axe head will never loosen — eliminating one of the most dangerous failure points of traditional axes.
  • Optimized Power-to-Weight Ratio: Perfected balance increases swing speed to multiply splitting power, similar to the mechanics of an aluminum baseball bat.
  • Lifetime Warranty: Built to last a lifetime, backed by Fiskars' full warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Fiskars X27 good for tall users?
Yes — the X27's 36-inch handle is the longest in the Fiskars X-Series lineup, specifically designed to give taller users the leverage needed to maximize swing speed and splitting power on medium to extra-large logs.

Will the axe head ever loosen or come off?
No. The PermaHead® insert-molded construction permanently bonds the head to the handle — it cannot loosen over time the way traditional wedge-set wooden axe heads can.

What is the difference between the X25 and X27?
Both are Super Splitting Axes suited for medium to large logs, but the X27 has a longer 36-inch handle (vs. 28 inches on the X25), making it the better choice for taller users who need increased reach and leverage.

Does the blade need sharpening?
The X27's proprietary blade-grinding process produces an edge that stays sharp longer than traditional axes. When sharpening is eventually needed, a file or whetstone can be used on the forged steel blade.

✔ Best Use Guide

  • Ideal for: Splitting medium-sized to extra-large logs for firewood; well-suited for taller users (roughly 6 ft and up) who benefit from the extra handle length.
  • Not designed for: Felling or limbing trees — use a chopping axe or hatchet for those tasks.
  • Grip & Safety: The textured non-slip grip improves control and reduces hand fatigue during extended splitting sessions.
