Toro Aqua-Traxx® Azul™ 6 Mil Drip Tape represents the latest generation of highly economical, precision watering. Designed specifically for seasonal agricultural row crops, market farms, and temporary raised beds, this tape features an entirely redesigned emitter. By utilizing patented multi-stage filters that protect the internal labyrinth from various sizes of debris, Azul™ maximizes clog resistance and field performance.
This 6 mil thickness is the ultimate cost-effective choice for single-season use. While thin and economical, it delivers superb watering efficiency and uniformity with a Coefficient of Variation (Cv) of less than 3%. Operating flawlessly on low-pressure systems between 4 and 12 PSI, Aqua-Traxx Azul ensures that every plant down the line receives the exact same amount of moisture and nutrients. For a leak-free setup that lasts the whole season, always pair this 5/8" tape directly with standard 5/8" drip tape fittings.

Install your Toro Aqua-Traxx Drip Tape quickly and correctly.
Step 1: Regulate Your Pressure
Aqua-Traxx Azul 6 Mil operates strictly between 4 and 12 PSI. Ensure your head assembly includes a low-flow pressure regulator (typically 10 PSI) and a minimum 100-mesh filter.
Step 2: Roll Out (Blue Stripe Up)
Unroll the tape down your crop row. Crucial: Always install the tape with the double blue stripes facing UP towards the sky. This ensures the internal emitters are positioned correctly to prevent sediment from settling over the laser-slit outlets.
Step 3: Connect to Mainline
Punch a hole in your poly mainline or Oval Hose header. Insert a standard 5/8" tape takeoff fitting. Slide the drip tape over the barb and twist the locking nut over the tape to secure it.
Step 4: Flush and Cap
Before capping the system, turn the water on to flush any dirt out of the open rows. Once the water runs clear, terminate the end of each row by folding it over and slipping on a standard tape end closure.
Why does the blue stripe need to face up?
Installing the tape with the double blue stripes facing upward ensures that the precision-slit emitters are positioned correctly.
If installed upside down, fine sediment left in the water when the system shuts off will settle directly over the emitters due to gravity, leading to clogs. Facing it up utilizes the Azul's internal labyrinth to its full potential.
Do I need to use a pressure regulator?
Yes, an irrigation pressure regulator is absolutely mandatory. This 6 mil tape is designed to operate strictly between 4 and 12 PSI.
Standard home and farm water pressure is much higher (40-60+ PSI), which will immediately rupture and blow out the thin-walled tape. We highly recommend a 10 PSI regulator.
How long does 6 mil tape typically last?
6 mil drip tape is the most economical thickness available and is designed specifically for single-season use.
Because the walls are very thin, it is highly susceptible to insect damage and mechanical abrasion. It is typically utilized for seasonal row crops and then discarded or recycled after the harvest. For multi-season use, consider upgrading to 8 mil or 15 mil tape.
What is the difference between Low Flow and High Flow?
Low flow tape emits water slower (e.g., 27 GPH per 100 feet), which allows you to run much longer rows (up to 460 ft) without losing pressure. High flow tape outputs water faster, which waters the crop quicker but restricts the maximum row length.
Slower flow rates are generally better for deep soil penetration and preventing runoff.
