Drip Fitting Sizing: How to Know if the Tubing and Fittings are Compatible
Mar 24th 2026
The 1/2" Compression x 3/4" MPT Adapter is the essential link for connecting your drip system to "hard plumbed" components. Designed to transition from 1/2" poly tubing to any 3/4" Female Pipe Thread (FPT) fitting, this adapter is commonly used to connect drip lines directly to PVC manifolds, PVC female adapters, or threaded isolation valves.
Featuring a secure compression ring on one side and a standard 3/4" Male Pipe Thread (MPT) on the other, this unit creates a reliable, watertight seal. As one of our most versatile irrigation fittings, it allows you to integrate flexible polyethylene tubing into rigid PVC systems or connect to specialized equipment like filters and pressure regulators that use pipe threads.

Install in minutes with no glue required.
Step 1: Seal the Threads
Apply 3-5 wraps of Thread Sealant Tape (Teflon tape) to the 3/4" MPT threads. This is critical for preventing leaks at the threaded connection.
Step 2: Screw in the Adapter
Thread the adapter into your 3/4" Female PVC fitting or valve. Hand-tighten firmly. If using a wrench, turn only 1/4 turn past hand-tight to avoid cracking the plastic.
Step 3: Connect the Tubing
Cut your 1/2" poly tubing squarely. Insert it into the compression end of the adapter. Rock the tubing back and forth while pushing firmly until it passes the internal resistance ring (approx. 1/2" to 3/4" deep).
