Description

Keep Your Drip Tubing and Drip Tape Securely in Place

U-Shaped Wire Hold Downs are a simple, affordable way to anchor 1/2" or 3/4" poly tubing and drip tape securely against the soil. Made from galvanized wire with pointed ends for easy penetration into hard ground, these 6" stakes are stronger than J-shaped alternatives and perform especially well in heavy or compacted soils. Just press them over your tubing — no tools required. Space them every 1–5 feet along straight runs and more frequently around bends to prevent shifting from wind, water pressure, or foot traffic. Available in 10-packs and economical 100-packs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far apart should I space the hold downs?
Space U-shaped hold downs every 1–5 feet along straight tubing runs.

Place them more frequently — every 6–12 inches — around bends and corners where tubing tends to spring back or shift. In loose or sandy soils, tighter spacing helps prevent pull-out.

What is the difference between U-shaped and J-shaped hold downs?
U-shaped hold downs are stronger than J-shaped hold downs and are especially well-suited for heavy or compacted soils.

J-shaped hold downs with round tops are commonly used to hold tubing, drip tape, or pipe in all soil types, while square-top J-stakes are typically used for landscape fabric. Both feature pointed ends for easier installation.

Can these hold downs be used for landscape fabric or weed barrier?
Yes — in addition to securing drip tubing and drip tape, U-shaped wire stakes can also pin down landscape fabric, weed barrier, artificial turf, dog fences, and perimeter wire.

For pinning landscape fabric specifically, square-top J-stakes are also a popular option available from DripWorks.

Complete Your Drip System

  • Drip Tubing: 1/2" and 3/4" poly mainline tubing secured with these hold downs.
  • Drip Tape: Flat drip tape for row crops and garden beds — hold downs keep it flat and in place.
  • J-Shaped Wire Hold Downs: An alternative stake style that works well in all soil types.
  • Weed Barrier: Use hold downs to pin landscape fabric flat for a clean, professional installation.
