Description

Reclaim Your Greywater. Divert with Confidence.

The Three-Way Brass Valve (1" FPT) is the cornerstone of any effective "Laundry to Landscape" greywater system. Designed to withstand the demands of diverting water from washing machines or other sources, this valve allows you to manually switch flow between your irrigation filters and landscape, or back to the sewer/septic system during cold weather or when using non-safe detergents.

Proudly Made in the USA, this heavy-duty brass valve features a robust handle and a reliable ball mechanism for leak-free operation. It is one of our most specialized irrigation fittings, essential for homeowners looking to conserve water by repurposing safe greywater for their trees, bushes, and ornamental plantings.

Why Install a Three-Way Valve?
  • Water Conservation: Easily divert thousands of gallons of laundry water annually to your landscape instead of flushing it down the drain.
  • Heavy-Duty Brass: Constructed from high-quality brass to resist corrosion and handle the heat and pressure of washing machine discharge.
  • Simple Operation: The clearly defined handle position makes it easy to visually verify whether water is flowing to the garden or the sewer.
  • Full Flow Design: The 1" internal bore ensures there is no back-pressure on your washing machine pump, protecting your appliance.
  • Made in USA: Built to higher quality standards for long-lasting performance in critical diversion applications.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

A secure installation is critical for greywater systems.

Step 1: Identify Flow Direction
Locate the inlet port (usually the center or bottom port depending on orientation). The handle position indicates which outlet port is active.

Step 2: Prepare Threads
Wrap Thread Seal Tape clockwise around the 1" Male Pipe Thread (MPT) adapters or nipples you will be connecting.

Step 3: Connect Lines
Screw your input line (from the washer) into the inlet. Connect one outlet to your sewer/septic line and the other to your landscape line. Tighten securely with a wrench.

Step 4: Label the Valve
It is highly recommended to label the handle positions "Sewer" and "Garden" so any user knows where the water is being directed.

✔ Compatibility Check

Ensure this valve fits your project:

  • Port Size: All three ports are 1" Female Pipe Thread (FPT). You will likely need adapters if your washing machine hose is 3/4" or standard garden hose thread.
  • Function: This is a diverter valve (L-port flow). It directs water to one outlet OR the other; it does not shut off flow completely (which protects the pump).
  • Regulations: Always check local codes regarding greywater installation in your area.

Complete Your System

Build a reliable greywater system with these essential components:

  • PVC Nipples: Use 1" nipples to adapt the valve to your PVC or tubing lines.
  • Thread Seal Tape: Essential for sealing the threaded connections to prevent leaks.
  • Valve Box: If installing the valve outdoors/underground, use a box for protection and access.
  • Poly Tubing: The standard distribution line for moving water from the valve to your landscape.
