Description

Secure Access. Reliable Threaded Connections.

The Schedule 80 PVC Threaded Union allows you to create a detachable point in your pipe system without the need for cutting or gluing. Designed with Female Pipe Threads (FPT) on both ends, this fitting screws directly onto threaded nipples or risers, making it the perfect choice for connecting and disconnecting pumps, filter manifolds, and valve assemblies.

Unlike slip unions that require solvent welding, these irrigation fittings offer a glue-free installation. They feature a robust Schedule 80 gray PVC construction for high pressure resistance and an internal EPDM O-ring that ensures a water-tight seal when hand-tightened. Always use Thread Sealant Tape on your male connections to prevent leaks.

Why Choose a Threaded Union?
  • Glue-Free Install: Connects to threaded nipples or male adapters, eliminating the mess and cure time of PVC glue.
  • System Flexibility: Allows you to easily remove a component (like a pump or fertilizer injector) for maintenance or winter storage.
  • Heavy-Duty Threads: Schedule 80 wall thickness provides deeper, stronger threads that resist cracking under torque.
  • Leak-Proof Design: The large union nut compresses an internal O-ring, creating a positive seal that holds up under pressure.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Follow these steps for a leak-free threaded connection.

Step 1: Disassemble
Unscrew the large union nut to separate the fitting into its three parts.

Step 2: Apply Tape
Apply Thread Sealant Tape to the Male Pipe Threads (MPT) of the nipples or risers you are connecting to.

Step 3: Attach Tailpieces
Screw the threaded tailpieces of the union onto your system components. Hand tighten, then give a final 1/2 turn with a wrench. Note: Ensure the large union nut is trapped on the correct side before screwing it in!

Step 4: Connect
Align the two halves and hand-tighten the large union nut. The O-ring will create the seal.

✔ Compatibility Check

Verify your thread type:

  • Ends: Both ends are Female Pipe Thread (FPT).
  • Requires: Male Pipe Thread (MPT) components, such as nipples, risers, or male adapters.
  • Does NOT Fit: Directly onto PVC pipe (unless you glue a male adapter on first) or hose threads.
