Description

Detachable Convenience. Professional Maintenance.

The Schedule 80 PVC Slip Union is the smartest way to plumb your system for future maintenance. By installing a union near pumps, filter stations, or PVC ball valves, you create a detachable access point that allows you to remove components without cutting the pipe.

These essential irrigation fittings feature a three-part design: two socket ends that solvent weld directly to your pipe, and a central threaded nut that seals them together with an O-ring. This design ensures a leak-proof connection that can be unscrewed by hand at any time, saving you from costly repair work down the road.

Why Use a PVC Union?
  • Easy Maintenance: Allows for the quick removal of equipment (like pumps or injectors) for servicing or winterization.
  • Leak-Proof Seal: Features an internal EPDM O-ring that compresses when the nut is tightened, preventing water loss even under pressure.
  • Standard Fit: The slip ends fit over standard Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 PVC pipe of the same size.
  • Durable Construction: Made from virgin Schedule 80 PVC for excellent resistance to corrosion and chemical fertilizers.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Install correctly to avoid gluing the union shut.

Step 1: Disassemble
Unscrew the union nut and separate the three parts (two tailpieces and the nut/O-ring assembly).

Step 2: Slide the Nut On
Crucial: Slide the large union nut onto one of your pipes before gluing the tailpiece.

Step 3: Glue Tailpieces
Use Purple Primer and PVC Glue to solvent weld the slip ends onto your pipes. Ensure the O-ring face is clean.

Step 4: Connect
Once the glue has set, align the two ends and hand-tighten the union nut. Do not use wrenches on the nut as it may crack.

✔ Compatibility Check

Verify your pipe size:

  • Connection Type: Slip x Slip. Both ends require glue.
  • Pipe Fit: Fits over standard Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 PVC pipe.
  • Not Threaded: If you need threaded connections, look for our FPT Unions.
