Winter Garden Care for Your Garden: Essential Maintenance Tasks and Tips

The PVC Insert x Barb Adapter is the professional's choice for connecting flexible polyethylene tubing directly to a rigid PVC manifold or lateral line. Designed with a specialized "Spigot" end, this fitting is engineered to solvent weld inside the socket of a standard PVC fitting (such as a Tee, Elbow, or Coupling), providing a flush, low-profile connection that must be secured with Hose Clamps.
Whether you are stepping down from a main water supply to a drip irrigation zone or creating a custom manifold layout, this Schedule 40 PVC adapter ensures a leak-free transition. The sharp, multi-ribbed barbs grip the interior of the tubing tightly, while the spigot end eliminates the need for extra pipe nipples, saving you space and installation time.

This installation requires two different connection methods.
Step 1: Solvent Weld (PVC Side)
Clean the PVC fitting socket (e.g., Tee or Elbow) and the Spigot end of the adapter. Apply PVC Primer to both surfaces, followed by PVC Glue. Insert the spigot fully into the socket and twist a quarter turn to set. Allow to cure.
Step 2: Prepare Tubing
Slide a stainless steel hose clamp over the end of your poly tubing. If the tubing is cold or stiff, dip the end in warm water to soften it.
Step 3: Insert Barb
Push the poly tubing over the barbed end of the adapter. Ensure the tubing covers all the barb ridges and sits flush against the body of the fitting.
Step 4: Secure Clamp
Slide the clamp into position over the barbs (but not at the very edge) and tighten securely with a nut driver or screwdriver. This prevents blowouts under pressure.
