How does this flush valve actually work?
It stays closed while the system is running at normal pressure, and opens automatically once line pressure drops below 7 PSI, letting trapped water and sediment drain out.

It requires roughly 30 GPM of flow to force it shut again once the system is turned back on and pressurized.

Is this valve a good fit for a small home drip system?
Not usually. Because it needs about 30 GPM of flow to close, it's better suited to mainlines, larger residential systems, or light agricultural setups than to typical low-flow drip zones.

For smaller drip tape or emitter lines, a compact hose-thread or 3/4" flush valve is usually a better match.

What size fitting does it thread into?
This valve has 2" Male Pipe Thread and threads directly into a 2" Female Pipe Thread fitting or riser at the end of the mainline.

Use a compatible 2" PVC fitting to transition into the valve if your mainline uses a different connection type.

Can I use this valve to winterize my system?
Yes. Because it opens automatically once pressure drops after shutdown, it helps drain residual water from the end of the line, which reduces the risk of freeze damage.

It's often used as an end-plug fitting specifically for this reason during fall system shutdown.
