Description

Control Flow at the Source. Threaded Connection with Shut-Off.

Managing water flow to individual rows is essential for precision irrigation. The Tape Loc x 1/2" MPT w/ Valve combines a secure tape connector with a manual shut-off valve, allowing you to connect 5/8" drip tape directly to 1/2" PVC risers or manifolds while retaining full control over that specific line.

Perfect for rotating crops, maintenance, or varying water needs, this fitting threads into any standard 1/2" Female Pipe Thread (FPT) fitting. The large, easy-to-turn handle lets you open or close the flow instantly, while the Tape Loc nut ensures your drip tape remains securely attached without leaks.

Why Choose Tape Loc Technology?
  • Integrated Flow Control: The built-in quarter-turn valve gives you the power to isolate specific rows. This is ideal for harvesting, weeding, or repairing a line without shutting down the entire system.
  • Positive Locking Mechanism: The distinctive locking nut twists down to mechanically clamp the tape over the barb. This "annular compression" creates a seal that prevents "blowouts" caused by pressure surges or warm temperatures.
  • Seamless Integration: The 1/2" Male Pipe Thread (MPT) end screws easily into any standard 1/2" Female Pipe Thread (FPT) PVC tee, elbow, or riser.
  • Fully Reusable: Unlike compression fittings that "bite" into the plastic, Tape Loc fittings can be unlocked and removed in seconds. Perfect for seasonal gardens where lines are moved or stored during winter.
  • UV & Chemical Resistant: Molded from high-grade polypropylene with UV stabilizers, these fittings resist cracking from sun exposure and are chemically inert to standard fertilizers.
Technical Specifications

Understanding compatibility is key to a successful installation. The Tape Loc system is engineered exclusively for flat drip tape, not solid poly tubing.

How to Install: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Preparation (Threaded Side)
Wrap the 1/2" MPT threads with Thread Sealant Tape. Screw the fitting into your 1/2" PVC fitting or riser. Hand-tighten plus a quarter turn—do not over-tighten.

Step 2: Prepare Tape
Cut your drip tape squarely with scissors. Critical Tip: Inspect the cut end. If there is a hard plastic emitter inside the tape within the first inch, cut it off. Trying to lock the fitting over an emitter is the most common cause of leaks!

Step 3: Unlock
Rotate the locking nut counter-clockwise (backwards) towards the center of the fitting body. This exposes the sharp barb. Do not remove the nut completely.

Step 4: Insert
Slide the drip tape over the barb. Push it until it hits the plastic stop on the body of the fitting. It should go past the raised ridge on the barb.

Step 5: Lock
Twist the locking nut clockwise (outward) so it travels over the tape. Tighten firmly by hand. The nut compresses the tape against the barb, creating a permanent seal.

Troubleshooting: If a leak appears on the tape side, do not use pliers. Back the nut off, check that the tape is fully seated and not folded, and retighten by hand.

✔ Compatibility Check

This fitting is for 5/8" Drip Tape ONLY.

  • It will NOT fit 1/2" Poly Tubing (Mainline).
  • It will NOT fit 1/4" Micro Tubing.
  • This adapter connects to threaded PVC fittings, not directly into tubing.
  • If you are using solid black tubing that does not flatten when empty, you need Easy Loc fittings, not Tape Loc.
